Sri Lanka’s highest plateau national park at 2,100 metres, accessed at the hour that determines the experience: before 9am, when the mist is still below the World’s End escarpment and the 870-metre drop to the lowland jungle below is fully visible. The circular trail crosses open montane grassland, passes through cloud forest, and returns via Baker’s Falls before the cloud closes in over the viewpoint. Endemic highland birds, sambar deer herds, and the particular quality of mountain air at altitude make the early departure feel completely justified.
